Did you notice? maybe? That the middle of the 2010’s brought out everyones inner 90s kid. Suddenly 90s throwbacks were blissful reminders of the simpler moments during our youth. People expressed their homage to that decade through their fashion and beauty choices. If this decades version of the 90’s sticks around for the remaining of the of 2010’s, only time will tell, but it’ll be a hell of an interesting sight to see how the styles evolve and grow with the different tastes. Heres my ode to 90’s trend, a jawbreaker paint splatter style nails. Using some warm water, hair spray, olive oil cooking spray, and a piece of plastic, I managed to get the style down but it took some patience.

Enjoy!

Foundation:

I started with a clean face and then used the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer to give my skin some life. My favorite part of the moisturizer is the scent because its refreshing and airy yet it helps with the prevention of breakouts! Then I continued with my color correction and concealer to smooth out uneven tones. For the first time, I also played with the NYC Bronze Face Powder that my mother often uses. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of a difference it made as a last touch to the foundation routine. It adds a bit of color to my complexion especially right after I finish applying concealer & foundation.

Lips:

Just a tab of tinted moisturizer and they were done 👍

Eyes:

The toughest part was getting the new eyelashes to get the shape of my eyes. Whenever you get a pair of faux lashes, the first thing before you wear them out is to break them in.. literally. It also helps to have a strong lash adhesive. Sadly, the one I’m currently using, the Revlon Precision Adhesive, works to a certain extent. I tend to apply the adhesive and then leave it for a few seconds to dry a little so it’ll become a bit sticky but what kept on happening was that the adhesive would dry almost immediately on the corners. When that’ll happen , it would take an extra 15 minutes longer just to make sure that the corners stayed put. So I’ll definitely be in the market for a new adhesive soon!

For the eyeshadows, I kept it very stubble & nude using the different shades shown in the Cast A Spell Beauty Book. For the next look, I’d probably add more eye shadow so it’ll be more noticeable.

The light green was the main touch. The light green liners from Milani Cosmetics and although it was a bit dry as I was reused it, the metallic color was still vibrant! I didnt have the heart to just throw it away cause I’d rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

Anyways, I sincerely hope you enjoyed this look. Leave a comment to let me know how you would have used the green eyeliner differently and have a blessed day!

NASTY GAL, NASTY GAL, NASTY GAL… I remember looking at their ads on Facebook and never really taking the time to explore their website back then. It wasn’t until all my girlfriends were taking about the clothes that I had to see what the hype was about. Then I read the #GIRLBOSS autobiography and I was completely taken away by Sophia Amoruso.  When I went on my trip to California, I was so excited to find the Nasty Gal store in Santa Monica. I fell in love  with these sneaker heals but didn’t get them right away and it wasn’t until I saw them on sale on the site that I knew these colorful sneaker heals (wedges?) had to be mine.

One of the most irritating feelings is when you bring something home that you absolutely loved in the store, just to see that nothing in  your collection of clothes compliments it well. Its out of left field for the what you’ve been harboring in the closet and theres so little time to be sourcing the stores or thrifts shops to find specific items. I’ve had this battle with this particular skirt and for some time. I loved the linen material with vertical gold/ orange metallic strips and the coarse like shape that it created once I put it on. There were many time that I had given up on this skirt. I’ve had it collecting dust, tried giving it away to family members, and I even thought of donating it. But somehow it would resurface or manage to get back to me, like some sort of lost child, reminding me like “hey, I’m cute, I’m here, LOVE ME! you got me for a reason…”

Well, it finally happened, the nourishment come like water to a drying flower. The beautiful thing is, it kind of happened by accident. I was observing the pretty detailed packaging design that the Versace perfume came in, which smells like a sweet vanilla scent, that I received for my birthday. After a while, I became a bit inspired by it. The metallic strips of the skirt expressed the metallic design, while wrapping my belt expressed the icon Versace medusa symbol.

Once I was inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I didn’t know where to start. From the outside, the construction of the buildings massive which perfectly foreshadows the massive amount of information thats readily available to the viewers. It was a wonderful little escape from the day to day tasks. Marbles of dramatic depictions of the Greek and Roman worlds, art ranging from the Neolithic period to the time of Constantine, etc. After the visit, I was inspired to create a timeless outfit that resembled the mood of the artwork. I loved how the taupe short sleeved turtle neck embodied the hues and tones. The gray? well.. gray goes with everything (sometimes). When you know what your focused on, the answers aren’t so obvious and often come unexpectedly.

When I have somewhere to go, I immediately just throw on a few things that I know are going to be flexible enough for me to move quickly around the city. There’s many factors to consider because, if suddenly, I need to run to catch the last train, that fear of missing it is so dear that it gets your adrenaline pumping to take flight. If theres a possibility of catching it, why wouldn’t anyone try to not do anything in their power to catch it? I love sporty styles cause it can blend to different occasions without looking over dressed or under dressed. As I put together this look, I kept on thinking about how good I wanted to feel while wearing different layers, as well as looking good without so much on (its a challenging balance especially when you can’t predict how long the days going to be and how many places your going to visit). Enjoy the pictures everyone and please let me know what you think 🙂

For every mood, it seems as if theres a texture to match those feeling, its like the physical manifestation if those moods. I find myself getting really excited about the day ahead when I’ve found that perfect combination of layers to provide comfort, effortlessness, and more importantly especially on the East coast, warmth. I recently bought this shawl fur collar cardigan at a thrift store around Bushwick in Brooklyn (sadly the associates working there couldn’t verify if the fur was real or faux because of the softness and the tags were removed). For a long time I’ve wanted a cardigan with an exciting fur collar but never got lucky, but this has definitely been my year. For especially chilly days, I take out these Timberlands. I know, they look like they’ve been through some damage but they still put up a good fight. The best thing about them is the faux fur lining in the inside, they’ve kept my feet extremely cozy, like a blanket on snowy day. The colorful patterns at the bottom are a few undies I hauled at Target. These colors just grabbed my attention more then the touch!

November’s just flying by and now its Thanksgiving week. I can recall a time when I was in middle school and believing how slow time went and now I just gasp at how fast I’m going through my calender’s. I was talking to a friend earlier this week about the major time difference between LA and New York City.

My boyfriend and I spend little over a week in the West Coast, going to LA, Catalina Island, Baja California and Mexico (we were on a cruise 😉 lol) But that was my first experience in the West Coast and OH MAN did it feel like a month instead of a week. It just felt a lot longer than what we were used too and I kind of liked the change.

This trip to Baltimore.. The ride there from New York City was about four hours with afternoon hours. I didn’t mind (since I wasn’t driving, luckily, but my boyfriend had to touch it out for both of us.. his amazing). I’ve had never gone to Baltimore before so it was beautiful getting to see the area with its colonial style neighborhoods. We booked an airbnb and our host was explaining to us that Maryland was still a slave state when it was banned in the North during and even during the civil war. Didn’t remember my US history class going over that! crazy.

We went for a company event and they also hosted a Halloween party for us. I was dressed as a dark angel.. as you can see.

Shoes: Nine West; Dress & long cardigan: Forever 21; Hair: Wig (although I might cut it short like it); Leather Jacket:  (don’t remember)
