Five Month Update x Mommy Thoughts

Now that I’m a mom, I constantly have this internal battle with myself regarding the massive changes with this new lifestyle of motherhood. It sickens me whenever I hear other parents say to those who have no kids that they shouldn’t have any kids period, as if their a curse from God. No bueno! I find myself having to remind my baby’s father about our great gift whenever friends ask us how we’re doing. Like, no, you don’t get to complain unless you were the one bearing the pains of birth!

But I get so confused and upset sometimes because I want to complete my to do list on a daily basis. I’ve got some easy tasks and others that are a pain in the ass, like figuring out how to back up all your electronics (Sheeshh, as tech gets more sophisticated it also seems to be more complicated… or maybe I’m out of touch).

The battle starts with the idea of being constantly present, in the moment with my baby girl. Watching like a hawk for the small details of her development, physical changes and guiding her to understand what’s around her… yet, I have other personal important things to do, goals to accomplish and dreams to fulfill.

Now that I’m a mom, its so ironic to me how I’m more sure and confident about my career and life and what type of action to take… how convenient. It doesn’t help either that I have this constant feeling like theirs a shelf life for my plans and that times being wasting by me choosing to pay attention to my daughters daily activities rather then my own. Then again, I argue, who is she if not the value I place on myself… ultimately, it’s a tug between who’s more important: my daughters development or the future me?…

Maybe its because Isabella’s my first baby that I’m feeling this way, but I haven’t heard many moms talking about this feeling or even express it. I’m literally learning as I go and trying to document it so I can share it with others, but if your a mom and have felt this feeling before, let me know in the comments below! How did you adjust? Did you find a helpful hand from family or did you have to buy it?

Potters Clay Color Block

For this nail design update, I really wanted to incorporate a autumn feel by using this clayish shade. When I saw the color, it instantly reminded me of one of the many Pantone colors for Fall 2016 that I wrote a post about a few weeks ago, which called the color Potters Clay for the russet orange undertone. This one in particular is called Brick House by Deborah Lippman lacquer. My favorite part about the Deborah Lippman lacquer is that it retains an impeccable shine without having to add layers of shine coating to finish it. Using the instagram image as inspiration, I colored blocked the Brick House with the pale white by Wet n Wild called Break The Ice, to represent the changing season! Nothing like a high and low mix to create something amazing. I hope you enjoy & let me know what you think of this design in the comments below!

4th Of July 2016 x RECAP

2

Bless the 3 day weekends! lol My 4th of July was spend with a lot of family quality time along with great cooking, smokey bbq, some fireworks but sadly a lot of rain towards the end. Countless number of people around the neighborhood were lighting their own firework rockets. The #ootd for the nations celebration of independence was something airy & comfortable, just to feel the slight breeze that managed to travel through even with the hot sun steaming.

A funny moment that occurred during the middle of our 4th of July bbq was when we almost lost our pet rabbit.

Most of my family attended the bbq & when I mean everyone, I’m also talking about our house pets, Chocolate the rabbit and Dardy our Shiht Zhu. Our rabbit is a short eared, solid black, mini rabbit. She’s always kept indoors but my father decided to give her a vacation by bringing her to the grassy areas of the backyard where we were having the bbq. When we looked at her, she seemed like she was in nirvana as the the sun was shinning on her. But for her protection, we kept the top of her cage on her so they’ll be no risk of losing her.

Without realizing, the door to Chocolates cage opened because my youngest brother had fallen on top of it! No one noticed that her cage popped open and when my dad went to check up on her, she was GONE! We were frantically looking for her all over the the backyard and we were worried that she had wondered off into our neighbors yard or worst, that the local owl took her for dinner! 😱

Eventually (20 minutes later) we found her grazing the grass under the family car. Leisurely, hopping from one patch to another. We all started laughing at the coincide that  at all of times we could have lost Chocolate, imagine it being on the 4th of July of 2016!

90’s Paint Splatter: Nails Update

Did you notice? maybe? That the middle of the 2010’s brought out everyones inner 90s kid. Suddenly 90s throwbacks were blissful reminders of the simpler moments during our youth. People expressed their homage to that decade through their fashion and beauty choices. If this decades version of the 90’s sticks around for the remaining of the of 2010’s, only time will tell, but it’ll be a hell of an interesting sight to see how the styles evolve and grow with the different tastes. Heres my ode to 90’s trend, a jawbreaker paint splatter style nails. Using some warm water, hair spray, olive oil cooking spray, and a piece of plastic, I managed to get the style down but it took some patience.

Enjoy!

It’s been randomly snowing throughout the city. It’ll be in the 60’s in the morning and in the afternoon, it’ll drop to 30 degrees with chances of snow or rain or a combination of both.
For days like that, I like to bulk up by layering as much as possible. I like to pair my dark brown suede coat over something that’s comfortable like leggings. Then pair it with my double knit long sweater but since I’m small it fits more like a dress. I can live in these shoes and if it were winter all year round, I would re-buy a pair of these every month since they feel amazing!
