Wet n Wild Mega Liner Glam Kat Eyes

#MOTD inspiration!

Yesterday, Americans all across the fifty states celebrated our independence day with a lot of bbq and fireworks. Its the unofficial, official start of summer, which is awesome!

But the heat and humidity makes it unbearable to put on a full face without it literally melting off your face. For the rest of the summer, my strategy is to emphasize the eyes while being subtle and light on my skin so it’ll have enough room to breath. One easy way to create glam look is a sexy cat eye. The first step to getting it done perfectly (even if you’ve got to try a few times) is by finding a pointy tip liquid eyeliner. It will revolutionize the way the wings are applied and wear throughout the day. My personal favorite drugstore liquid liner, that is amazing for your budget and overall quality is the Wet n Wild Megaliner. The Megaliner collection has a variety of liner tips and colors to create the looks your heart desires.

Using the same Wet n Wild Megaliner, you can create the inner corner wings which just emphasizes the shape of your eyes beautifully. Then I used the Mega Eyeliner Pencil to trace my water line because the pencil is not as bold and looks more natural. Lastly, I applied some mascara and then curled them with my a curler so my lashes will stay up for longer. The Maybelline The Colossal Volum’Express is nice… but its not always consistent. Sometimes the mascara comes out clumpy and other times its smooth.

These are the products I used for my face. As you can see, I just focused on covering my under circles and set it with the Maybelline FIT Me! Powder so it’ll keep my face matte. By keeping the skin smooth and simple, it’ll  make the eyes pop even more.

I found these blending sponges at my local bargain store. I enjoyed how they’re all in different shapes and blend smoothly.

The Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer has been my go-to for everything. I found that using a flat shader brush makes the littlest drop of the concealer go a long way, which helps me save on quantitylinerliner4

Thank you so much for checking out my post! I hope this look inspires you to try it out. Whats been your favorite liquid drugstore liner? Let me know in the comments below. Have a blessed day!

#OOTD x Hot Pink Ombre Nike Sneakers

This is a casual Friday street wear workout sporty outfit. The best part about it are my favorite throwback ombre hot pink and purple Nike sneakers because their so eye catching and comfortable. It instantly adds life to any occasion and emotionally, it brightens my mood!

Since my body is still bouncing back from my pregnancy, I’ve been wearing a lot of black on a day to day basis which sucks. Wearing black is very slimming but it makes you feel hotter and with the NYC humidity, your like a walking sauna which is not cool. But I won’t get tired of wearing my Straight Outta Compton t-shirt because its perfectly oversized to wear as a mini dress or tie it in the center to add more shape. I thought it be relevant to wear because of the release of the Tupac movie All Eyez On Me, which I can’t wait to go see this weekend! Even though its kind of a throwback fad to the summer of 2015 when these shirts were everywhere with the release of the movie.

I hope you’ve enjoying this dose of minimal and sporty inspo #ootd. Let me know in the comments below if you like this outfit/or the sneakers. Also, which movies have you seen in theaters lately? Are you excited to see the Tupac movie? Was he your favorite 90’s artist?

Like always, have a blessed day!

These boots were a major throwback for me…

#fbf lol circa 2007’ish (?)

These boots were my first major purchase as a teen. I felt so grown and awesome because, at the time, I hadn’t seen many people wearing Moccasins.

At one point, I got really tired of these knee high boots and tucked them nicely away for a long time in a corner of my closet. Lately, the weather has been warm for this holiday season, when it should be well below the 50’s F. Sneakers leave me too exposed to the cool air but winter boots are heavy and hot. I decided to revive these boots since they’re extremely comfortable yet warm, albeit, don’t look it. The fringe is a classic touch of charm without looking over produced. The Forever 21 mini knit dress has a geometric pattern that gives like an overall, fifty shades of blue, bohemian look. I loved how round and perky my belly looked through this dress. Thank goodness for knit & spandex cause maternity clothes looks horrible on my petite body.

Thank you for checking out my blog and checking out this post, let me know what your thoughts are about this #ootd on the comments below! ✌️

WTF x Hair?!

WTF IS IT SO HARD TO GET IT RIGHT?

I feel like I can never get it right and the only time that I’ve actually felt at ease with a hair style was when I took my ol’ clippers and did the job myself. I only committed to the task because I was too broke at the time to get something professionally done.

When its time for me to get a new cut or a trim, I end up trying out a new hair dresser. I’d usually never go back to the same person twice simply because I’d leave their chair unsatisfied about either the service or their technique. It seems like an endless cycle of disappointment with empty pocket books and its been going on for far too long now, I’m truly aiming to commit now.

I’d remember seeing the smiles on the hair stylists face as they’d hand me their big mirror to check out the back view of my head. I’d be all smiles also, at first glance, for the sheer fact that the deed was done and I knew I no longer had to worry about my damaged ends. Then as I’d linger on the reflection, I’d start to wander into the “what if’s”. What if I tried something else? What if this hair stylist took the extra step to suggest something that’s trendy? Do they even know whats flattering to my face shape (which is by far the most important)? I have a round face and I’ve come to accept that it won’t change no matter the workout techniques or diets and sadly, the haircut options for round faces aren’t so exciting.

In the end, I know it all comes down to confidence! How happy are you with what yo mama gave you, right? Its just frustrating to seek someone to entrust with the task of determining the changes of your future looks. If we’re taking that initiative to enhance our day to day life by wanting an amazing hair cut, then shouldn’t it be easy to just pick a person to be like a personal hair magician.

I know, this is more of a rant then a real research analysis lol but this is all coming from the experience of going to a new hair salon around my new apartment. I usually don’t go to predominantly Dominican hair salons, but I wanted to test it out regardless. I showed the hair stylist a beautiful Pinterest picture of the type of cut I wanted and she promised me she’ll try her best…

a61bf875b9c50ef652b56a05d7cd8f9f

The haircut she gave me feels like it’s missing a few steps (truth be told, I think she was on her way out to lunch and wanted to just squeeze me in beforehand). The fundamentals seem right with just a few missed chopped off strands. When she handed me the mirror to check out the back, like the many hair dressers before her, I immediately became distracted by my hideous copperish highlights. Like wow, that really looks like a middle schooler did my hair and they might as well have (don’t DIY  highlights ladies, thats what I tried to do 😖). Overall, the back looked fine and at first, I was genuinely excited about the front look with a new set of bangs. I started seeing the potential and all the ways to play  with them.

But the weeks to follow, I lost the pleasure of having them and mostly because the weather become so unbearably hot. As I caught glimpses of myself inside store mirrors or walking by storefronts, I’d started noticing how much of a mom I was starting to look like with this type of hair cut style. Theres nothing wrong with being a mom, I just felt older then what I am and if I wasn’t rocking a mom look, I looked like I was wearing a 15th century wig… so my current situation isn’t so flattering.

So currently  I’m on the hunt again for another hair salon with a hair stylist that I can truly commit to and feel comfortable being honest with. Thats all a girls asking for 😇. Wish me luck lol

Metallic Foil Stripe x Nails Update

Before I decided to try this design, I wasn’t aware that the stripes are called nail foil and if your looking for the ultra thin ones, just add stripe to the end of that google search. Their not expensive but before I purchased it, I decided to experiment with supplies I already had available at home. To improvise, I used aluminum foil to cut into really thin stripes and for glue, I depended on the polish to get a little dry and tacky. The tackiness made it like glue which made the foil stripes stick with only a few layers of coating. Then lastly, sealed with a clear top coat…

These are the finished results! Enjoy and let me know what you think of this design!

Contour Palette & New Glasses!

Its been a while since my last blog post and I’m really not proud of that. But theres been a few changes in my life and the pivoting point was sometime towards the end of May. For example, I’m officially a college grad (after 4 stressful years, I thought I’d never see the day come).

IMG_9608

Most recently though, I got a new pair of glasses. I tried to familiarized myself with the types of frames that would suit my face shape before I stepped into the store. By the time I went into my local lenses store, I was so excited and overwhelmed by all the different options that I just attempted to try everything.. what can I say, I couldn’t help myself! red-glasses-

The ones shown in collage above are the new glasses. The frames are half red/magenta and half black.

Rectangular-glasses-

The ones in this collage are my old ones. Sometimes I would feel like an executive in these or a moody librarian… it just depended on the day lol.

#MOTD

So in honor of the new frames, I decided to also experiment with my everyday makeup. A makeup look that would be bold enough to pop! For the main focus, I contoured my face using the Wet n Wild Contouring Palette in Dulce De Leche (which soooooo happens to be done of my favorite deserts). As I was applying the contour and highlighter, I was very impressed by how easily I could blend the shades. Yet I wasn’t thrilled at how light the contour appeared on my face especially if your aim is to add drama using it!

A dramatic wing, a few racing stripes and a small dot…

I enjoyed using the Contour Palette by Wet n Wild, it was a fun way to discover my angles and what works vs. what didn’t. Would I repurchase the kit again? Probably not.

Cynthia Rowley x Summer Swimsuits

swimsuit-desire.jpg

As a little girl, one piece swimsuits were the staple to my wardrobe during the summer session. They ranged from tropical floral prints to bold salmon colors and ruffles along the waist. For the summer season, RTW Cynthia Rowley blends the functionality of a sporty wetsuit with a cute bikini bottom for the inner surfer gal in everyone. Her passion for designing the wetsuits comes from her own love of surfing. These are just a few that I picked out from her website that look so delicious! The neoprene helps maintain the shape, which is an awesome characteristic of neoprene. Rowleys buy now wetsuit capsule collection comes in ten different patterned fabrics from color blocking to florals to minimals! The effortlessness of style selections within the varying looks are killer!

Now, if I only find a Australian like beach in NYC…

Chunky Platforms

IMG_9503

For the longest time I’ve wanted a pair of platform booties! I had searched countless places and sites to find the right fit, the right size platform and the right texture. A timeless investment that’ll add to other pieces in my closet and tie some of the looks together. It comes with a bold silver zipper in the back of the ankle so the front view is clean and minimal. I kept the rest of the look minimal so the emphasis and focus would go directly to the new shoes. A baggy sweater for those rainy days, and lets be honest, the baggier the better lol.

90’s Paint Splatter: Nails Update

IMAG3815-01

IMAG3820-01

boulders_jawbreakers_1

Did you notice? maybe? That the middle of the 2010’s brought out everyones inner 90s kid. Suddenly 90s throwbacks were blissful reminders of the simpler moments during our youth. People expressed their homage to that decade through their fashion and beauty choices. If this decades version of the 90’s sticks around for the remaining of the of 2010’s, only time will tell, but it’ll be a hell of an interesting sight to see how the styles evolve and grow with the different tastes. Heres my ode to 90’s trend, a jawbreaker paint splatter style nails. Using some warm water, hair spray, olive oil cooking spray, and a piece of plastic, I managed to get the style down but it took some patience.

Enjoy!

Foundation:

I started with a clean face and then used the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer to give my skin some life. My favorite part of the moisturizer is the scent because its refreshing and airy yet it helps with the prevention of breakouts! Then I continued with my color correction and concealer to smooth out uneven tones. For the first time, I also played with the NYC Bronze Face Powder that my mother often uses. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of a difference it made as a last touch to the foundation routine. It adds a bit of color to my complexion especially right after I finish applying concealer & foundation.

Lips:

Just a tab of tinted moisturizer and they were done 👍

Eyes:

The toughest part was getting the new eyelashes to get the shape of my eyes. Whenever you get a pair of faux lashes, the first thing before you wear them out is to break them in.. literally. It also helps to have a strong lash adhesive. Sadly, the one I’m currently using, the Revlon Precision Adhesive, works to a certain extent. I tend to apply the adhesive and then leave it for a few seconds to dry a little so it’ll become a bit sticky but what kept on happening was that the adhesive would dry almost immediately on the corners. When that’ll happen , it would take an extra 15 minutes longer just to make sure that the corners stayed put. So I’ll definitely be in the market for a new adhesive soon!

For the eyeshadows, I kept it very stubble & nude using the different shades shown in the Cast A Spell Beauty Book. For the next look, I’d probably add more eye shadow so it’ll be more noticeable.

The light green was the main touch. The light green liners from Milani Cosmetics and although it was a bit dry as I was reused it, the metallic color was still vibrant! I didnt have the heart to just throw it away cause I’d rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

Anyways, I sincerely hope you enjoyed this look. Leave a comment to let me know how you would have used the green eyeliner differently and have a blessed day!
